Training Shift

The theme of our panel was “Revise” and as someone who enjoys roleplaying games and video game writing, I was inspired to write a fictional narrative that could be endlessly “revised” by a reader’s choices. When I presented this piece at FVWF, I had the audience shout out their choice at the end of each scene, allowing it to be experienced cooperatively. This piece was written in Twine, an open-source tool for creating interactive narratives and games that doesn’t require any coding knowledge. "Training Shift" is a surreal text-based interactive narrative in which you are a barista working a new job in a coffee shop. Each decision draws you deeper into a world of eldritch forces and dream logic.
Loghan delivered a version of this micro interactive fiction piece during the Revise panel at the 2024 Fraser Writers Festival.
