At the Fraser Valley Writers Festival we have something for everyone! This years workshops will take place on November 7th, 2026. We have a variety of workshops to choose from, which include all genre, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. All of our workshops are taught by our talented authors. “Writing Hybrid Forms to Punch Up Your Writing”

“Get Your Freak On”

“Zuihitsu (随筆): What the Curve Couldn't Explain”

Epidemiology taught Keiko Honda to trust the curve, until the part of life it couldn't explain turned out to be where the writing lived. In this workshop, we'll follow the brush of zuihitsu, the Japanese form that leaves room for what refuses to resolve, and write toward it.

“Finding the Beauty in the Truth”

Some truths feel as if they are ours alone to carry. Those around us may rewrite history and pressure us to comply with the acceptable family or community narratives. It may take time to gather the courage to write what we have seen and experienced. Together we will unpack the things that can make it easier to tell the truth. Jónína will share the beauty she has found in doing so.
They say the truth will set you free. If you long for freedom this workshop may be for you. It will include a guided meditation and short writing exercise.
